Strategy revision

Do you try to change the reality in order to make it fit your strategy or do you adjust your strategy in accordance with reality?

A strategy is basically a large scale plan. And any plan needs occasional adjustments to reality. That also means that all strategies need a revision in the implementation phase, some more than once.

The ever-changing world, industry demands, market changes, customer requirements call for change of parts or more comprehensive ways of doing business or internal processes. More so, it is evident that most strategies over time de facto are no longer are 100 % valid – in scope, time, budget etc.

Our experience is that that all strategies need frequent reviews. It can be either incremental reviews or more large scale reviews. Sometimes small adjustment to the strategy – not the reality – is all that is required.

However, sometimes a more thorough review of the success and progress of the strategy implementation is desired. Sometimes it is even a necessity as the strategy does not bring the benefits to the company as expected.
